“But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
— 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJV)
Introduction
Life often confronts us with discouragements, setbacks, and seasons of waiting. In those moments, it can feel like the promises of God are distant or forgotten. However, as Kingdom Citizens, we are reminded in Scripture that our current situation does not define our future. In Christ, the promise remains steadfast: The Best is Yet to Come.
1. Understanding God’s Promises
God’s Word is filled with promises that anchor our faith and hope. Jeremiah 29:11 declares:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Even when circumstances seem unfavorable, God’s plan is at work. He is orchestrating every detail of your life to bring about a future that glorifies Him and blesses you.
Never let temporary trials convince you that God has forgotten you. His promises are not dependent on your current state but on His unchanging nature.
2. Why the Best is Yet to Come
- Because God is Still Working:
Philippians 1:6 reminds us that “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” - Because Heaven Awaits Us:
This earth is not our final destination. Jesus promised in John 14:2 that He has gone to prepare a place for us. Our eternal reward far exceeds anything this life can offer. - Because God Can Do Exceedingly Abundantly More:
According to Ephesians 3:20, God is able to do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.”
If God has already done great things in your life, remember: He has more in store.
3. Avoiding the Trap of Discouragement
Discouragement is one of the enemy’s favorite weapons to make believers give up before their breakthrough. But remember:
- Joseph went from the pit to the palace.
- Ruth went from widowhood to becoming an ancestor of Christ.
- Job received double for his trouble.
What you are facing now is not your conclusion—it is merely a chapter. Keep moving forward in faith.
4. Living with Expectation
To live with the mindset that “The Best is Yet to Come” means to:
- Pray Bold Prayers: Approach God with confidence (Hebrews 4:16).
- Live in Holiness: Keep yourself aligned with God’s will.
- Encourage Yourself: Speak the promises of God over your life daily.
- Keep Serving: Stay active in your ministry, family, and purpose.
Isaiah 40:31 promises that “those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” Keep your expectation alive. God honors faith.
5. A Word of Caution
Sometimes, impatience can tempt us to take shortcuts or compromise our values. Remember Abraham and Sarah: when they tried to “help” God fulfill His promise, it resulted in complications. Trust God’s timing.
Proverbs 3:5–6 encourages:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
6. God’s Past Faithfulness is Proof of Future Goodness
Think back to what God has already done for you. Every answered prayer, every provision, every healing—these are testimonies of His faithfulness. If He did it before, He can do it again.
Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us that “His mercies are new every morning.”
7. Our Eternal Hope
Ultimately, no earthly blessing can compare to the eternal joy awaiting us in Heaven. Revelation 21:4 promises a place where:
- There will be no more death.
- There will be no more sorrow.
- God Himself will wipe away every tear.
This is the ultimate promise: eternal life in the presence of God.
Conclusion
Beloved in Christ, no matter what you are facing today, hold onto this truth: The Best is Yet to Come. Your current struggles are not your final destination. God has more grace, more blessings, and greater victories prepared for you.
Keep your heart fixed on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Keep pressing forward, knowing that God’s plan is perfect and His promises are sure.
When life whispers, “It’s over,” let faith roar, “God has more!”
