The question “Who is Jesus Christ?” is one of the most important questions in human history. For over 2,000 years, people have been trying to understand, define, and follow this extraordinary man. Some say He was just a prophet, a teacher, or a good man. Others believe He is the Son of God and Savior of the world. But who is Jesus Christ, truly? The Bible gives us a clear, powerful, and life-transforming answer to this question.
1. Jesus Christ Is the Son of God
Jesus is not just a religious figure or a historical personality—He is the Son of the living God. In Matthew 16:15-17, Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon… for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.”
This shows us that understanding who Jesus is, must come by divine revelation. Jesus was not born of a human father. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin (Matthew 1:20-23). His divine nature means that He was, is, and always will be God.
2. Jesus Christ Is the Word Made Flesh
John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Then in John 1:14, it says, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” This means Jesus is not just someone who talks about God—He is God, who became man.
He walked among us, ate with sinners, healed the sick, raised the dead, and taught truth with authority. Jesus perfectly represents the nature and character of God. If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus.
3. Jesus Christ Is the Savior of the World
The core of the Christian faith is that Jesus came to save sinners. In Luke 19:10, Jesus says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” The human race was separated from God because of sin (Romans 3:23). No amount of good deeds or religion could bridge the gap between God and man. But God, in His love, sent His Son to die in our place.
Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” His death on the cross was not a tragic mistake—it was a divine plan. Jesus willingly gave His life to redeem humanity from sin, death, and eternal separation from God.
4. Jesus Christ Is the Resurrection and the Life
The story does not end with the cross. Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, just as He said He would (Matthew 28:5-6). The resurrection is the proof that Jesus is who He claimed to be. It is also the cornerstone of our faith. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:17, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.”
But Christ is risen! He conquered the grave. He defeated death. Because He lives, we too can live. Jesus said in John 11:25, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” That is our hope—eternal life through Jesus.
5. Jesus Christ Is the Only Way to the Father
In a world that promotes many paths to God, Jesus boldly declared in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” This is not arrogance; it is truth. Jesus is the only one who lived a sinless life, died for the sins of the world, and rose again. No other religious leader can claim this.
Acts 4:12 confirms it: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” To know Jesus is to know God. To receive Jesus is to receive eternal life.
6. Jesus Christ Is the King of Kings
Jesus is not only Savior—He is also Lord. Philippians 2:9-11 tells us that God has exalted Jesus and given Him the name above every name, and that one day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Right now, Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven. He is not dead—He is alive and ruling! And He will come again in power and glory to judge the living and the dead. Revelation 19:16 calls Him “King of kings and Lord of lords.”
7. Jesus Christ Is a Personal Friend and Shepherd
Jesus is not distant or uninterested in our daily lives. He calls us His friends (John 15:15). He is our Good Shepherd who cares deeply for His sheep (John 10:11). He knows us by name. He understands our pain. He listens to our prayers. He walks with us in every season of life.
Hebrews 4:15 says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses…” Jesus understands you. He loves you. He wants a personal relationship with you—not religion, but real friendship and fellowship.
What Will You Do With Jesus?
Now that you have seen who Jesus is—the Son of God, the Word made flesh, the Savior, the Resurrected Lord, the Only Way, the King of kings, and the Friend of sinners—how will you respond?
Jesus asks each of us today the same question He asked His disciples: “Who do you say I am?” (Matthew 16:15). You can’t ignore Him. You can’t stay neutral. You must choose. He is either who He says He is—or He is not.
If you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, then receive Him into your life. Repent of your sins, trust in His finished work on the cross, and surrender your life to His Lordship. He promises forgiveness, peace, purpose, and eternal life.
If you are already a believer, then live each day to know Him more and make Him known. Let your life reflect His love, truth, and power. Jesus is not just a figure of the past—He is the Lord of the present and the hope of the future.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for revealing Yourself to us through Your Word. Thank You for coming into the world to save us, to give us life, and to bring us back to the Father. I confess that You are the Son of God, my Savior, and my Lord. Help me to know You more, to love You deeper, and to walk with You daily. Strengthen my faith and use my life for Your glory. Amen.
Let the world know: Jesus is not just a man—He is the Living God, the Savior of all who believe.
